Peacemaker is our school's official Restorative Practice (RP) leadership group, focused on resolving conflict by hearing every side, repairing relationships, and finding solutions that actually work for everyone involved. To become a certified Peacemaker, I completed more than five hours of training in restorative practices and conflict resolution.

In 2026, I designed and ran four restorative practice workshops for over 150 middle schoolers, including more than 80 seventh graders and 70 eighth graders. I put together icebreaker activities, introduced students to the idea of Restorative Practices, and led role-playing scenarios based on conflicts they actually deal with, such as gossip or disagreements during group projects. Through these sessions, I taught practical tools like using "I" statements, thinking through the impact of your actions, participating in mediation meetings, and building "move forward" agreements to help rebuild trust. I encouraged students to come up with their own approaches to resolving conflict and think about how they could apply these skills to their day-to-day lives.

I also organized initiatives around student well-being, like meditation sessions and wellness workshops, and community-building events such as New Year celebrations and gratitude campaigns for school staff to foster a warmer, more supportive school environment. In addition, I led four communication and relationship-building workshops for international students, focused on helping them build confidence and form real connections within the school community.

Through all of this, I helped younger students build stronger communication skills and grow their empathy. I also learned firsthand how much power education has to build stronger communities. I hope the skills these students picked up will help make our school a more connected community.
