Grade 10
I was selected as a Finalist and received the Outstanding Award in the Create Essay Competition in June 2025, an international essay competition that receives more than 500 entries each month. Participants submitted essays of over 750 words, which were evaluated based on logic, literature review, writing style, innovation, and structure. Selected essays were published, and participants who scored 80% or higher received the Outstanding Award.
For my essay, I researched Emotional AI and explored the relationship between artificial intelligence and humans. I opened with an engaging hook that portrayed AI as a romantic partner to illustrate how deeply AI has become woven into everyday life and can serve as a friend, mentor, or even a companion.

I then introduced Emotional AI as artificial intelligence capable of measuring, understanding, simulating, and responding to human emotions, explaining the technologies behind it — text analysis, facial recognition, and voice analysis— and how these methods enable AI to recognize and respond to human emotion.
Next, I examined real-world applications of Emotional AI through examples such as Character.AI. I discussed its potential to help individuals build meaningful connections, particularly those who experience social anxiety or have difficulty forming relationships in real life. At the same time, I analyzed the ethical challenges associated with Emotional AI, including age appropriateness, overreliance on AI, algorithmic bias, and privacy concerns. In the final section, I explored broader philosophical questions about whether AI can truly possess emotions and whether humans should embrace emotional relationships with AI. I concluded with the importance of using Emotional AI responsibly.
